Coach Kris Finneran from England departed and worked really well in the Township schools, coaching under 15’s and girls school teams and also assisting Maritzburg College and playing for Maritzburg Collegians whilst in South Africa. He was assisted by Mats Danielsen of Norway for the next few months. He was sponsored a vehicle by Bruce’s Panel Beaters and the KZN Rugby Vets also assisted with his costs for his accommodation every month. After his departure, Mats was joined by Lithuanian player, Airidas Savickas, who assisted him with coaching in the Township Communities.
In September 2014, A Female Volunteer Coach/Player from Norway, will be base in Kwazulu Natal, coaching womens teams and young boys school teams in Historically Disadvantaged Communities in Kwazulu Natal. Pics will follow once she arrives in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
Two Zimbabwean Players with Ancestral Visas or British Passports, as well as two South Africans (One with a British Passport and one with EU Ancestry), have also now been placed at clubs in the UK ie in Wales, and have already started playing for their clubs. An opportunity has been created by RDJ Sports Development Ltd, for young disadvantaged players who have a University Degree, to complete a post-graduate degree at a University in the UK for the 2014/15 annual intake. This is offered as a full scholarship and rugby players would be given a full scholarship including fees, accommodation and meals as well as 20 hours of community wirk for spending money (Coaching in the local communities)
